Luis Suarez, who has been given a nine-game international ban and a four-month suspension from all football for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini will no longer be used by Adidas for World Cup campaigns. Though the Liverpool striker has not only received support from Uruguay fans, he has also received support from Uruguay FA who plans to appeal the ban
Adidas released a statement confirming that they would not use Suarez for any further World Cup marketing. "Adidas fully supports FIFA's decision. Adidas certainly does not condone Luis Suarez recent behavior and we will again be reminding him of the high standards we expect from our players. We have no plan to use Suarez for any additional marketing activities during the 2014 FIFA World cup, we will discuss all aspects of our future partnership with Suarez and his team". a spokeswoman said in an emailed comment.
After the ban was announced, Uruguay soccer association's official Twitter feed: "Strength Luis! More united than ever. Let's go Uruguay". Luis Suarez will have missed a total of 39 matches for biting opponents by the time he serves ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.
