Luke Donald's third daughter was born during the BMW PGA Championship.
Luke Donald, who helped make it such an enthralling battle for the BMW PGA Championship, was managing to keep his focus despite knowing that 4,000 miles away, in his adopted home city of Chicago, his third daughter was enjoying her first few days of life.Georgina began to make her progress into the world while Donald was busy compiling a second-round 67, which just happened to be the best round on that
blustery, damp Friday. She was not due until the end of next month, so daddy was completely unaware that the newest addition to his family was intent on soon screaming her hellos. In fact, he was not to find out until after he completed his five-under effort."It was then that I discovered that Diane had been unexpectedly induced four weeks before her due date,” Donal said. “There would have been no way that I could have made it back to Chicago in time for the birth. So after making sure that both my wife and Georgina were doing well, Diane and I decided together that I would finish the tournament."Georgina eventually arrived at about 3am, British time, meaning no sleep, but plenty of excitement for Donald. He went on to shoot a third-round 68 on that day to get into the final group and only saw his challenge end on Sunday on the closing hole when his second to par-five came up short into the water. “I wanted to win for Georgina, but it wasn't to be," Donald said.
