Spain's goalkeeper, Iker casillas gets a surprise backing from Chelsea's Mourinho after what is considered by many as woeful performance against Netherlands on Friday. Mourinho, who dropped Casillas for Diego Lopez in his final reign at Real Madrid in 2012-2013 and was widely reported to have fallen out with the club captain, has said he would not discard Casillas just because of one poor showing
Mourinho told Yahoo! Sports "The goalkeeper position is a very specific one and I wouldn't like to make a change just because of one poor game, I would only change something after a bad run of form that clearly shows a keeper lacks confidence and stability and his body language suggests it would be better to change. Iker has had a fine run with the Spanish national team and he has the confidence of his coach. One bad game is not sufficient to change keepers."
Well, who would have thought that Mourinho will say such about Casillas, now that Mourinho has the likes of Diego Maradano backing his decision in dropping Casillas, he then goes and makes this statement. The guy can be so unpredictable.
