The defending champion (pictured left), Andy Murray defended his Wimbledon title with a 6-1 6-4 7-5 win over David Goffin on center court. Murray, who admitted that he was nervous before the game felt it was nice to walk out to a full crowd for the first match and to a round of applause.
Novak Djokovic (pictured right), eased into the second round in a 6-0 6-1 6-4 defeat of Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev. The top seeded player who is yet to win a grand slam tournament, announced after the match that "it was a great start, especially the first two sets and I could not be happier with the performance"
