Xabi Alonso still says he left Real Madrid for something new and not because he would have to fight for his position after the Spanish giants signed Toni Kroos. There have been various suggestion and speculations regarding his departure from Real Madrid and the 32-year-old attempted to set the record straight.
In an interview with TZ, Alonso said:
"People talk a lot. I wanted a fresh start in a new city and I felt that was best for my career. It had nothing to do with the arrival of new players because I Knew I had Ancelotti's trust and was going to play an important role. There was nothing that could have upset me at Madrid.
