Spurs Diaw to make $500,000 if he weighs less than or equal to 254 pounds

San Antonio Spurs reportedly included a weight loss clause in Boris Diaw contract. If you know Diaw, you know he is not only great with his passes, he plays solid defense and is generally fast on court.
According to ESPN. Diaw's contract includes $500,000 potential annual bonuses should he meet certain weight goals. see what how the deal is structured after the cut.

The deal is like this:
  • If Diaw weighs less than or equal to 254 pounds on Oct. 25, he makes $150,000.
  • If he still weighs less than or equal to 254 pounds by the Tuesday after the NBA All-Star Game, he makes another $150,000.
  • Finally, if he weighs less than or equal to 254 pounds on April 1, he makes $200,000 - because Spurs need him him fit and lean for the post season.
It is possible for Diaw to get the $500,000 after his coach Gregg Popovich jokingly singled him out in a press conference last month on his weight. I learnt via Twitter he also had a weight clause in his previous Spurs contract which he was able to fulfill last season and collected the incentives.
