Arsene Wenger, Oliver Giroud praises Petr Cech after Bayern Munich win

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and striker Olivier Giroud has praised the performance of goalkeeper Petr Cech following Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the just concluded Champions League game.

Cech produced a number of saves from Thiago Alacantara, Robert Lewandowski and Douglas Costa throughout the tie before late goals from Giroud and Mesut Ozil gave the Gunners their first Group F points. Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Wenger said:
"It was a game of top quality. We played with disciplined intensity. Both keepers made great saves. Petr Cech was a key figure. He was intelligent, everything [he does] is classy. There were two world-class goalkeepers out there tonight. Overall we have beaten a very strong team. We kept a clean sheet as well. I always had hope because as long as we fought I told them at half time that we could win this game in the second half, but we needed to keep a clean sheet and very strong discipline."

While Giroud also told BT Sport:
"We did well until the goal and defended really well. Bayern Munich will have the ball, they are very good in possession and they finish with 70% of the ball. They dominate the game but we knew that and we were able to finish it off. We needed this win to stay in the Champions League and try to qualify for the next stage. We have to thank Petr Cech too - he had a fantastic game."
Despite the victory at the Emirates Arsenal are still bottom of Group F.
