Real Madrid remain Europe's richest club


Real Madrid remain the richest club in Europe, according to a UEFA report. The La Liga club had the biggest revenue (€550m) and gate receipts (€121m) in 2014, as well as the biggest wage bill (€270m) and most expensive squad (€316m). 

Manchester United made Europe's largest operating profit (€140m) while Tottenham Hotspur made the biggest net profit of €78m. Combined club losses are down from €1.7bn to €485m after the introduction of Financial Fair Play.

Violence in Manchester ahead of City's game against Sevilla



Earlier in the day Sevilla fans had been spotted drinking peacefully in the city centre, and singing songs while locals looked on. But when rival groups of supporters encountered each other the atmosphere turned nasty, with violence breaking out and a running battle taking place throughout the street.

Renault F1 updates for United States GP aimed at improving power


The updates to Renault's Formula 1 power unit for the United States Grand Prix are aimed at power rather than driveability or reliability. The French manufacturer has used the bulk of its remaining 2015 tokens on internal combustion engine (ICE) and turbo changes.

A Renault statement confirms that the "new specification of power unit [is] available to use in Austin", having reached dyno targets. However, it remains to be seen whether the upgraded unit will be adopted by Red Bull, based on the grid penalties it would incur. Sister squad Toro Rosso is understood to have ruled out using the new unit this weekend.

Barcelona Sergi Roberto to miss the next seven to ten days, the club confirms


Barcelona have revealed that Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto will miss the next "seven to 10 days" after picking up a groin problem in Tuesday's 2-0 win over BATE Borisov in the Champions League. Roberto started the game but, had to be substituted in the 17th minute after picking up a groin injury.
After undergoing an examination on Wednesday morning, Barcelona have confirmed the extent of the damage. 
"Tests on Wednesday morning reveal that first team player Sergi Roberto has pulled an adductor tendon in his left groin. He is expected to be out of action for seven to 10 days," a statement on Barcelona's website read.

Aston Villa need a win to boost their confidence - Coach Tim Sherwood


Under pressure Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood is certain his side will start picking up points if they match the performance levels they showed in Saturday's 2-0 loss to Chelsea. Korean Chung admits his FIFA candidacy hangs by a thread


South Korea's Chung Mong-joon says he has been left in a "double bind" after a Swiss court rejected his request to temporarily lift a six-year ban from football that would allow him to stand as a candidate in FIFA's presidential election.

FIFA said on Tuesday that a Zurich District Court denied Chung's request and ruled there was no indication of a defective procedure on the part of the soccer body's ethics committee in banning the South Korean.

Sunderland striker Jemain Defoe has told manager Sam Allardyce that he is not happy sitting on the bench,, which is leaving him frustrated.

Manor Formula 1 team 'would not exist without Ferrari', Lowdon says


Manor has praised Ferrari for sparing the team from Formula 1 extinction as it plans for its new future with Mercedes. The F1 outfit announced this month that it is to be supplied power units by Mercedes from 2016, as well as rekindling a former supply relationship with Williams for transmission and other components.

It will mean the end of two years working with Ferrari, who came to Manor's aid at the start of the season by agreeing to supply a year-old spec engine as the team emerged from administration.

Petr Cech pleased with his side's performance against Bayern Munich


Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed his delight with his team's performance in yesterday's win against Bayern Munich. The 33-year-old made a number of stops in the first half to keep the scores level, before Arsenal went on to beat the Bundesliga outfit 2-0 thanks to second-half goals from Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil.

Emmanuel Emenike's retirement a shock to coach Sunday Oliseh


Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has revealed his thoughts regarding striker Emmanuel Emenike's shock retirement from the National team. The striker took to his Instagram account on Monday to announce his retirement from the Super Eagles team, however, both the NFF and the coach are yet to receive any official document from Emenike.
Speaking to Brilla FM, Oliseh said:
"It was a big shocker for us and a big shocker for me personally. And personally, I still don't accept that he (Emenike) has retired because, officially, I have not heard anything from him, and I don't think the federation have heard anything from him, only what we've seen is what is pasted on social media. 

U17 World Cup - Nigeria defeats Chile 5-1

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has told Arsenal supporters that they will be offered a "good price" for tickets to attend November's Champions League tie at the Allianz Arena. 

Prior to Arsenal's 2-0 win over the German giants, Bayern fans protested against the ticket prices at Emirates.
