Argentina defeats Iran with just one Goal.

Iran fought hard for 90 minutes, protecting their goal and counter-attacking. But they could only hold Messi down for so long. Messi finally made the perfect strike into the corner to the net at stoppage time.

Iran showed they are a quality side in their battle against Argentina, but the performance of Messi was the difference in this match. Argentina is through to the Round of 16, however they wrap up their Group F foray with a match on Wednesday against Nigeria. Iran will face off against Bosnia and Herzegovina in their Group F finale.

So unlucky for Iran. It's all over! Argentina are into the final 16 of the 2014 World Cup. Lionel Messi stepped up once again to hand his team three points with a stunning late goal.  It is a credit to them that it has taken the best player in the world finally finding a little bit of space to beat them. Messi's brilliance shines again in this World Cup, but Argentina will need to find a way of getting the best out of their whole team as this tournament progress.
