Maradona accuses FIFA of discriminating against Costa Rica

Diego Maradona has accused FIFA of discriminating against Costa Rica after seven of their seven players of the winning squad were drugs tested against Italy. However, FIFA officials have explained that five of them had initially missed the anti-doping test before the World Cup began but Maradona who was banned from 1994 World Cup for failing a drug test has refused to believe that.

Maradona believes that the seven players were tested because Costa-Rica and not the big teams are going through and as to that the sponsors won't pay what they had promised.

Why test seven players from Costa Rica and not seven from Italy? This is only happening because some people are annoyed Costa Rica and not the big teams are going through, and so the sponsors won't pay what they had promised. It is against the rules. Two players from each team are supposed to undergo doping controls. I know what I'm talking about because it happened to me. But seven players? I've never seen something like that. - Diego Maradona
