Today in Sao Paulo Uruguay's striker Luis'Suarez struck twice on the entire stage to defeat England 2 - 1 in a Group D clash.
England equalized in the 75th minute, when Wayne Rooney tapped in Glen Johnson’s cross from close range, but it was Uruguay and Suarez who took all three points when Fernando Muslera’s booming clearance was knocked on by the colliding figures of Cavani and Steven Gerrard. The loose ball fell kindly for Suarez who raced in alone on goal and lashed a shot past a helpless Hart.
Uruguay now has 3 points in Group D, along with Costa Rica and Italy, who face off tomorrow in their second game.
Uruguay will face the Italians in the final group game on Tuesday in Natal while England will see out its campaign against Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte.
