Roberto Martinez knows there is no room for complacency on Wednesday evening when Everton begin their quest for glory in the Capital One Cup at Barnsley. Martinez, who thinks his team have been handed one of the toughest draws of the second round after being paired with the League One Tykes.
"You need to be ready - you can’t go into any round thinking your league status gives you an advantage on the pitch. The focus will be there and the understanding of who we are facing will be there. Talking about winning a competition when you first go into it is a bit stupid but we need to make sure we are as prepared and as good as we can in order to progress, Martinez said at his pre-match media briefing.
The clash takes on extra focus given there could be potential returns to Oakwell for Everton defenders John Stones and Mason Holgate.
