The running track is usually done in the oval shape but the picture above shows a 'square' running track constructed in Heilongjiyang, China.
Under pressure to get the track constructed before their superiors visited, it is reported that officials working on the forestry administration stadium in Tonghe county took matters into their own hands. They did a rush job by marking the two bends out in straight lines to save the effort of doing the usual oval shape.
Local resident said: "It is difficult to turn and easy to fall." Someone who worked on the stadium said: "The current tracks were laid in a rush to deal with the visit by some provincial leaders . We ourselves feel it's ugly. But who can change it if our bosses don't care?"
