After
all, he averages nearly 74 on Fridays at the Open compared to just over
69 on the other three days of the weekend - and he's had a string of
second round implosions in all events this season.
But instead of a Freaky Friday he had a Fantastic Friday at Hoylake - the highlight of which was a double-birdie on the 8th.A double birdie? Yep. One pheasant, and one ten foot putt to follow it that went dead in the cup.
The pheasant ran onto the green, stared the world number eight down for a
minute or so, then skittered off into the crowd, leaving everyone
laughing. As was McIlroy - though of course it's easy to laugh when
you've already slain your demons for the day.
