Athletics - American's Allyson Felix wins 400m women's gold

Allyson Felix produced a memorable performance to claim gold in the women's 400m final at the World Athletics Championships this afternoon. The American was the favourite going into the race and went flying out of the blocks, overtaking Great Britain's Christine Ohuruogu on her outside within the opening 100m.
No-one was able to get close to Felix, who crossed the line in a personal best and world-leading time of 49.26s to claim her maiden solo 400m gold and her ninth world title overall in style.
