Nigeria had little trouble in beating Mozambique 83-47 as they advanced into the quarter-finals for 11th consecutive time. Team Nigeria dominated the game throughout, and although they used a 6-0 run in the third quarter to get back in the game, the Nigerians had clearly more options to close out the game.
Despite Augusto Matos’ effort to oppose Nigeria’s favouritism, they really never posed a threat as the Western Africans led all bout 20 seconds of the contest. Matos, the only Mozambique player to score in double digits, finished with a game-high 14 points, but that wasn’t good enough to avoid their Mozambique’s elimination.
Alade Aminu led Nigeria with 14 points, and Olaseni Lawal contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds. Nigeria will take on Gabon in the Quarter-Finals on Thursday.
