Lionel Messi beats Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez to win best player in Europe award. Messi found the net 58 times for the Catalan club, but he brought more than just goals to the side, providing 31 assists for his teammates too.
Messi was the key member of Europe’s deadliest attack last season, scoring a combined total of 122 goals with Neymar (31) and Suarez (25).
Ronaldo, who came second in the voting, scored 61 goals for Los Blancos in the past campaign, but his chances of winning were decidedly diminished by Real’s disappointing campaign.
Suarez began last season four months late due to a lengthy ban after the 2014 World Cup, but when he did eventually get on the pitch for Barcelona, he was hugely impressive.
