Johanna Konta has claimed that she is happy to have beaten one of the best in Garbine Muguruza in the second round of the US Open at Flushing Meadows. The 24-year-old took almost three-and-a-half hours, which is the longest women's match in the tournament since 1970, to claim a three-set victory over the ninth seed. Read what she said after the cut
"I'm happy to be in the next round. She probably didn't bring her best, but she's one of the best competitors out there so I'm really happy to fight through each point and come out with a win," Konta told Sky Sports News.
It is the first time that Konta has reached the third round at Flushing Meadows in her career. Konta will take on 18th seed Andrea Petkovic in the third round
