The 30-year-old now needs just two points from the US Grand Prix to win the world title for a third time after Nico Rosberg retired early on with a throttle problem. Mercedes could also win the constructors' championship if Kimi Raikkonen is stripped of his 5th placed finish after causing a crash at the end of the race.
