Ana Ivanovic beats Venus Williams 7-6[3] 6-2 in the second round of the China Open. Williams, who won the Wuhan Open on Saturday, will not make it back-to-back tournament victories after being defeated in just over an hour and a half.
The pair exchanged a break each in the first set, with Ivanovic winning the tie-break before Williams capitulated in the second set. The veteran broke to lead 2-0 but then lost six games on the spin as Ivanovic, of Serbia, romped to victory.
