Manchester City fans have been given a fitness boost after Vincent Kompany insisted he was ready to play for the club following a five-game absence. Kompany has been struggling with a calf-injury was not expected to play for Belgium in their two final Euro qualifiers but he played for an hour in last nights 3-1 win over Israel, which saw his side top the FIFA world ranking.
"I feel great and I'm glad I got to do it. It's going again now and I'm looking forward to the next games. "I needed to be a part of this. I play for my country. I'm proud to do it. There are no small games and I have given everything I have for City, I will always do this, but I do the same for my country," Kompany told Sky Sports News.
The defender is likely to play in Saturday's game against Bournemouth.
