Germany are enjoying the benefits of winning the World Cup and have gone top of the FIFA ranking for the first time in 20 years. Argentina move from the fifth position to the second position with Netherlands occupying the third spot in the ranking.
Reigning European champions Spain have dropped from first place to eight place following their disappointing performance in the tournament. Columbia (fourth), Belgium (fifth), Uruguay (sixth), Brazil (seventh), Switzerland (ninth), and France complete the top 10.
USA remain the best-placed Concacaf team in 15th, Algeria are the best-placed African team in 24th and Japan are the best placed Asia team in 45th.
