United, Chelsea given huge boost: The Daily Star has good news for Louis van Gaal on the day he officially takes charge of Manchester United, with the paper reporting that the club's pursuit of Arturo Vidal has been given a big helping hand by last night's shock news that coach Antonio Conte has quit Juventus. The same goes for Chelsea, who hare being strongly linked with Juve star Paul Pogba,
formerly of Manchester United himself.
The paper writes: "Conte's resignation could pave the way for Pogba and Vidal to leave Turin this summer. Both have been linked with moves to the Premier League this summer following impressive performances at the World Cup."

Everton target World Cup striker: It could be a busy few days on Merseyside as the Daily Star, prolific this morning, claims Everton are after Colombia striker Carlos Bacca, who featured in the country's quarter-final defeat to Brazil. The Star writes: "Everton boss Roberto Martinez is considering turning to him if they can't re-sign Romelu Lukaku. Another loan deal would suit Everton but Liverpool want to sign him on a permanent deal."

Pellegrini snubs Brazil: It's
a quiet day for transfer rumours in the papers but the Star carries an
interesting story on its back page with the news that Manchester City
boss Manuel Pellegrini has turned down the chance to be Brazil's new
manager, following the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari. Apparently, the
Brazilian FA have made the Chilean their No. 1 target.
