Liverpool will look to conclude a deal to sign Victor Valdes next month when the Spain goalkeeper is fit to undergo a medical. Valdes, who is a free agent having ran down his contract with Barcelona, is currently sidelined as he recovers from cruciate ligament injury.
Liverpool have held talks with Valdes and he has indicated his desire to move to Anfield but the move will not be made official until he has completed tests on Merseyside in October. Bringing in Valdes would ensure Mignolet is seriously tested and give Rodgers some vast-experience in a key position.
