Rafa Benitez defends subbing Benzema off

Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez have defended his decision to sub off Benzema in Sunday's game against Atletico Madrid. Benzema scored the only goal for Real Madrid but was substituted before the end of the game.
Benzema, who is not happy with being substituted, admitted after the Madrid derby that he is tired of being subbed off. However, Benitez has defended his decision, read what he said after the cut

"Benzema did well, but I substituted him because we needed to freshen things up on the wing. With Gareth Bale's speed we were able to play between different areas of the pitch and with Cristiano Ronaldo up forward we kept up our attacks. We balanced the team and maintained our attacking punch."

Real Madrid have now won just one of their last nine games against Atletico in all competitions.
